Promote xID on your website

We recommend that you explain in what way you are using xID on your website, and the added value for your xID customers. We have gathered some recommendations and relevant material at this page.

How you should promote xID on your website

1. Help your customers understand what xID is and how it works

Next to the login button for xID and for filling out forms with additional information we recommend that you write a small text about xID, and if there is room you can link to xid.no. A few suggestions are:

2. Explain how you are using xID at your website to their benefit

xID will have different use cases for different websites, as described here. Thus, we recommend that you explain customers how you are using xID at your website, for what purpose and what added value your customers gain from using xID. By being transparent about the customer being in center, you will probably get a higher convertion rate for xID users on your site. Go to xid.no to be inspired to prepare suitable content about xID.

3. Make it visible that you are offering xID as a login option

We recommend that you show your customers that your are offering xID as a way to login to your website. This way the user easily recognises xID and is more likely to use xID at your website. There are several ways to do this, in addition to placing a login button where the user normally logs in to your website:

  • Present content about xID and the benefits of using xID on your website, both when logging in and before
  • E-mail your customers and tell them about the new login option you offer
  • Explain to the user what elements are presented to him because he is recognised with xID
  • Use the xID logo together with the information about xID, to increase recognisability

4. Show that a user is logged in with xID on your website

We recommend that you give the user a signal that he is logged in with xID, either by using the xID logo or highlight that he is logged in with xID. You decide how you want to display this to the user, depending on how your website is built. A few suggestions are:

  • Displaying the xID-logo, explaining at the customer profile page that he is using xID
  • Next to the username at the top of your website, to signal that the user is logged in:
